Flag Monument

Where the Argentine flag was first raised — 70-meter tower overlooking the Parana River

Last updated: April 2026

The National Flag Monument (Monumento a la Bandera) is Rosario's most iconic landmark and one of Argentina's most imposing monuments (lat -32.9442, lng -60.6305). Inaugurated in 1957 on the exact spot where General Manuel Belgrano first raised the Argentine flag on February 27, 1812, it features a 70-meter tower with a panoramic viewpoint, the Civic Courtyard, the Propylaeum with an eternal flame, and the Flag Hall with flags from every Argentine province. Overlooking the Parana River, it is both a national pilgrimage site and a stunning piece of monumental architecture.
