Iguazu Falls with rainbow from the walkways

Iguazu Falls in 2 Days

The essential itinerary: one day on the Argentine side and another on the Brazilian side. Both sides of a world wonder.

Last updated: April 2026

Two days is the absolute minimum to experience Iguazu Falls properly. With this optimised itinerary you will visit both sides of the falls -- Argentine and Brazilian -- without rushing, with time to enjoy every viewpoint, take photos and fully live the experience.

The key is the order: start with the Argentine side (the immersion) and finish with the Brazilian side (the panorama). This progression takes you from the most intense, physical experience to the more contemplative one, closing with the panoramic photo you will remember for the rest of your life.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Argentine Side — Devil's Throat and Circuits

Dedicate the first full day to the Argentine side, the largest and most spectacular. Arrive early at 8:00 to avoid crowds. Start with Devil's Throat (take the train to the Garganta station), then walk the Upper Circuit (views from above) and Lower Circuit (face to face with the falls). If you have energy, do the Gran Aventura speedboat ride under the falls. Lunch at the park restaurant. Finish with San Martin Island if the boat is running.

  • Devil's Throat: the 1,100 m walkway to the most powerful cascade
  • Upper Circuit: 1,750 m of walkways above the falls
  • Lower Circuit: descent to the base of the cascades
  • Gran Aventura: speedboat under the falls (USD 50-60 extra, optional)

Day 2: Brazilian Side + Bird Park

On the second day, cross to the Brazilian side for the panoramic view the whole world knows. Start early with the Bird Park (opens 8:30, right beside the national park entrance). Then walk the 1,200 m trail with progressive viewpoints building to the climax facing Devil's Throat. The panoramic elevator takes you up to the upper level for lunch. In the afternoon, return to Puerto Iguazu and enjoy sunset at the Triple Border landmark.

  • Bird Park: 1,400 birds of 150 species in walk-in aviaries
  • Falls Trail: 1,200 m with the world's most famous panoramic view
  • Final viewpoint: facing Devil's Throat, with spray and rainbows
  • Panoramic elevator: access to the upper level

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to see both sides of the falls in a single day?

Technically possible but not recommended. The Argentine side alone needs 4-6 hours minimum, and you would miss key experiences by rushing. The border crossing adds 30-60 minutes. With 2 days, you enjoy both sides properly.

Which day should I do first, Argentine or Brazilian?

We recommend starting with the Argentine side because: 1) It requires more time and energy, and you are fresher on day one. 2) Circuits open at 8:00 vs 9:00 on the Brazilian side. 3) Starting with immersion on the Argentine side and closing with the panorama on the Brazilian side is the perfect progression.

How much does the 2-day itinerary cost in total?

Estimated per person for 2 days: Tours (USD 28 + USD 36 = USD 64), Gran Aventura optional (USD 55), Bird Park (~USD 15), accommodation (USD 40-100/night x 2 = USD 80-200), food (USD 15-30/day x 2 = USD 30-60). Total: USD 190-400 depending on accommodation and whether you do the Gran Aventura.
