Where to Stay in Iguazu
Puerto Iguazu, hotels near the park and the only hotel INSIDE the falls. Everything you need to choose your base beside one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
Last updated: April 2026
Iguazu Falls is one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature, and choosing the right place to sleep can transform your experience. The Iguazu area has a special feature: the falls straddle the border between Argentina and Brazil, and accommodation options are split between Puerto Iguazu (Argentine side), the hotel zone near the National Park, and Foz do Iguacu (Brazilian side). Each has its advantages and price range.
The most important decision is whether to stay on the Argentine or Brazilian side. The short answer: if your priority is the falls (and it should be), Puerto Iguazu is the best base. The Argentine-side National Park is larger, more spectacular, and needs a full day. From Puerto Iguazu, the park is 20 minutes away. Crossing to the Brazilian side for a day trip is easy and takes 30-40 minutes including immigration.

Sheraton Iguazu -- The Hotel INSIDE the Falls

Located literally inside the National Park, this 5-star hotel has a privileged position with direct views of the cascades. The "Falls View" rooms are the most coveted, offering a natural spectacle that no other hotel on Earth can replicate.
The number-one advantage is exclusive park access: as a guest, you can walk the falls walkways before the park opens to the public (8:00) and after it closes (18:00). Imagine walking to Devil's Throat at sunset, with nobody around, hearing only the roar of water and the call of swifts.
Price range: USD 250-500/night. Falls View rooms from USD 300. Jungle View from USD 200. Best for: Honeymoons, anniversaries, once-in-a-lifetime trips, photographers.

Foz do Iguacu (Brazil)
If you are working in Brazilian reais or looking for the lowest prices in the area, Foz do Iguacu is worth considering. The Brazilian city is significantly larger than Puerto Iguazu (250,000 vs 80,000 inhabitants) and has a wider hotel range, especially at the budget end. Hotels in Foz are 20-30% cheaper than their Argentine equivalents.
Foz is a good base if your priority is the Brazilian side of the falls (the panoramic view is spectacular) and the Bird Park. It is also closer to the Itaipu Dam. To visit the Argentine falls from Foz, you cross the border via the Tancredo Neves Bridge (40-50 minutes total).
Price range: USD 20-60/night. Best for: Tight budgets, travellers prioritising the Brazilian side, visitors who already know the Argentine side.
Hotels in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil

Tips for Booking Accommodation in Iguazu
A pool is essential
Iguazu has a subtropical climate with temperatures of 25 to 38 degrees most of the year and high humidity. Choosing a hotel with a pool is not a luxury -- it is a necessity. Even budget hostels in Puerto Iguazu usually have pools.
High season and mosquitoes
High season runs June to September (Argentine winter -- more pleasant 15-22 degree temperatures) and the January-February holidays. In summer (December-March) it is very hot with more mosquitoes. Air conditioning is essential. Some travellers prefer the rainy season (October-March) when the falls volume is at its most impressive.
Two-night strategy
For a classic 2-night trip: Day 1 -- arrive, explore downtown and the Triple Border landmark at sunset. Day 2 -- full day on the Argentine side. Day 3 -- morning on the Brazilian side (falls + Bird Park), afternoon flight back.
