Puente del Inca is a natural geological formation at 2,719 meters on Route 7, 183 km from Mendoza (lat -32.8264, lng -69.9111). A natural rock arch 48 m long, 28 m wide and 8 m high spans the Las Cuevas River, created by sulfurous hot springs over thousands of years. What makes it extraordinarily beautiful are the mineral colors: sulfur, iron and other mineral deposits paint the bridge and surrounding rocks in brilliant oranges, yellows, greens and ochres, creating a surreal landscape. Declared a Natural Monument in 1991. Below the bridge are ruins of a 1925 thermal hotel destroyed by an avalanche in 1965. Essential stop on the Route 7 high mountain circuit.
