Tigre and its Parana Delta form the most popular day trip from Buenos Aires: just 50 minutes by train from Retiro station, you find yourself navigating a labyrinth of rivers and streams among islands covered in subtropical vegetation, where residents travel by boat and houses have docks instead of garages. The delta covers some 17,500 hectares of islands forming Argentina's largest wetland system, and it is a perfect escape from the noise and asphalt of the capital.
