72,000-hectare reserve — 365 curves, the iconic hotel and condors in the pre-Andes

Last updated: April 2026

The Villavicencio Natural Reserve is a 72,000-hectare protected area 50 km north of Mendoza in the pre-Andean foothills (lat -32.5236, lng -69.0133). It is famous for the 365-curve mountain road climbing from 900 to 3,000 meters, the abandoned Norman-style hotel that appears on the iconic Villavicencio mineral water label, and the Cruz del Paramillo at 3,000 m with panoramic Andes views. The reserve hosts a stable population of Andean condors, plus guanacos, foxes, pumas and 150+ bird species.
