Campo Quijano is a small town of 15,000 inhabitants 30 km west of Salta city, Argentina (lat -24.9167, lng -65.6333), known as the "Gateway to the Andes" (Portal de los Andes). It marks the start of the Quebrada del Toro and Route 51 toward San Antonio de los Cobres and the Puna. Historically a railway town on the Train to the Clouds line, it preserves the old train station and railway heritage. The last town with full services (gas station, ATMs, restaurants) before the long climb to the puna.
