Getting around Buenos Aires
SUBE card
The SUBE card is mandatory for public transport (subway, buses, trains). Buy one at any subway station or kiosk for USD 1-2 and load it with credit. Without SUBE, you cannot board a bus.
Subway (Subte)
6 lines covering downtown and main neighborhoods. Runs 5 AM to 11:30 PM weekdays. USD 0.30 per ride. Line D (Palermo-Recoleta-downtown) is the most useful for tourists.
Uber & Cabify
Both work well and are cheap (USD 2-4 per ride). Safer than street taxis for tourists. For taxis, always ask them to turn on the meter.
