Last updated: April 2026

San Isidro is a district in the northern suburbs of Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina (lat -34.4711, lng -58.5126), known for its elegant colonial historic quarter, its imposing neo-Gothic cathedral and its equestrian tradition. Located 30 minutes by train from Retiro station on the Mitre line, this residential neighborhood combines history, architecture and nature on the banks of the Rio de la Plata. Quinta Los Omejos, an 18th-century residence declared a National Historic Monument, the San Isidro Racecourse (one of the most important in South America) and the elite polo fields define the district's identity. The historic quarter with cobblestone streets, colonial mansions, antique shops and boutique cafes offers a peaceful escape from the Buenos Aires pace. From San Isidro you can continue to the Tigre Delta or explore the waterfront promenade with views of the Rio de la Plata. The average annual temperature is 17 degrees Celsius.
