La Candelaria

UNESCO Jesuit Estancia at 1,200 m — The most remote and rural, in the heart of the Sierras Grandes

Last updated: April 2026

La Candelaria is the most isolated of the five UNESCO Jesuit estancias in Cordoba (lat -31.45, lng -65.05), located 220 km from the capital at 1,200 m in the Sierras Grandes. The last 30-40 km are on dirt road. No direct public transport. Its remoteness is what makes it special: UNESCO heritage combined with pristine mountain landscape, absolute silence and untouched nature. The estancia focused on cattle ranching and retains its rural character.
