Upper Circuit walkway with panoramic view of the Iguazu Falls cascades

Upper Circuit

1,750 metres of elevated walkways above the falls. The aerial perspective of the most spectacular cascades.

Last updated: April 2026

The Upper Circuit is the most panoramic route in the Iguazu National Park. Along 1,750 metres of elevated walkways, it takes you above the falls, offering a unique perspective: you look down and see water plunging directly beneath your feet. It is the bird's-eye view of Iguazu, without the need for a helicopter.

Unlike the Lower Circuit (which takes you to the base of the falls), the Upper Circuit maintains altitude, following the upper edge of the cascades. The experience is more contemplative, with spacious viewpoints where you can pause for photos and absorb the immensity of the landscape. It is also the most accessible circuit in the park, suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Upper Circuit Facts

  • Length: 1,750 metres
  • Duration: 1 - 1.5 hours
  • Difficulty: Easy (flat walkways)
  • Accessibility: Fully accessible (ramps, no stairs)
  • Start: Cataratas Station (Ecological Train)
  • Included in: National Park entry

The Falls Along the Upper Circuit

The route passes over the main falls of the front, viewed from above:

  • Salto Dos Hermanas: twin cascades falling in parallel. One of the most photogenic spots in the entire park, with frequent rainbows in the morning.
  • Salto Bosetti: a wide, powerful cascade with a natural pool at its base. The walkway passes right above and you feel the vibration of the water.
  • Salto Chico: smaller but charming, surrounded by lush vegetation. A good spot to observe blue morpho butterflies.
  • Salto Ramirez: offers a panoramic view of the river before it plunges. From here you can see how the river widens before cascading over the edge.
  • San Martin Falls: the second largest after Devil's Throat. From the Upper Circuit you have a partial but imposing view of its curtain of water.

Best Time to Walk It

The Upper Circuit is ideal as the second walk of the day, after visiting Devil's Throat early. Between 10:00 and 12:00, sunlight illuminates the falls head-on, creating spectacular rainbows at every viewpoint. By that time you have already done the most in-demand trail (Devil's Throat) and can enjoy the Upper Circuit at a more relaxed pace.

For families: The Upper Circuit is the best option if travelling with young children or elderly relatives. There are no stairs, the walkways are wide and safe, and the viewpoints have high railings. It is the most comfortable way to experience the falls up close without physical effort.
