The Termas de Rosario de la Frontera are the oldest and most renowned thermal complex in Salta Province and one of the most important hot springs in Argentina. Located 180 km south of Salta city at 770 meters elevation, these springs were developed for therapeutic use in 1880, although indigenous peoples had known and used their healing properties since ancient times. The waters emerge naturally from underground at temperatures between 30°C and 95°C, and are sulfurous, bicarbonate and chlorinated, rich in sulfur, calcium, magnesium, sodium and trace elements. The complex, dominated by the emblematic Hotel Termas (a colonial-era building from the early 20th century that hosted Carlos Gardel and Argentine presidents), offers thermal pools at different temperatures, mud therapy (fangoterapia), inhalation treatments, hydrotherapy and spa services. Access from Salta is via National Route 9/34, a modern highway, in 2 to 2.5 hours.
The Thermal Waters
The springs emerge from 200-400m underground at temperatures ranging from 30°C to 95°C. Key pools:

| Hot pool | 36-40°C | Therapeutic: joints, muscles, stress |
| Very hot pool | 40-45°C | Brief use (15-20 min). Deep effect on arthritis |
| Sulfur spring | 85-95°C | Observation only. Cooled for baths and inhalations |
Treatments

- Inhalation: Sulfurous steam for respiratory conditions. 10-15 minute sessions.
- Thermal hydrotherapy: Individual tubs with controlled temperature and massage jets. 20-30 minutes.
